I am a lucky southern guy with over 10+ years in the beauty industry doing everything from print, commercial and television. I have worked from Atlanta all the way to California and in between. Now I get to be a part of the Education and Sales team here in the Big Apple working with a group of mentors so inspiring to me and for a brand that taught me who I am today.
When Kevyn said "Growing up, my idols were Barbara Streisand, Cher and my Mom" it resonated with me because I am a makeup artist because of my Grandmother. I remember being mesmerized watching my grandmother "MeeMee" do her makeup and when she finished she would put on a frosted red-coral lip and take a deep sigh of relief because she felt confident after she finished.
One day that coral-red lip and myself went to visit my Aunt Bonnie in Alabama where she had the Making Faces book sitting on her coffee table. For hours I slowly flipped the pages staring at the pictures and felt like the pages should have weighed tons because they held so much knowledge. Knowledge that taught a young artistic boy from TN that we would grow up and teach women how to create confident looks on themselves.
Just like Kevyn I loved the extremes of natural beauty all the way to creating something that you wanted to see. I have a special appreciation for natural skin and equality to a grunge eye.
